As the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award, Skyryse was recognized for Skyryse One, and its milestone accomplishment of a fully automated hover and set-down at the swipe of a finger

May 9, 2025 (Hermosa Beach, CA) – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics  (AIAA) Los Angeles (LA) Section proudly congratulates Skyryse® (El Segundo, CA), its new awardee for the Section Technical Excellence Award 2025, for Skyryse One, the milestone  accomplishment of a fully automated takeoff, hover and set-down at the swipe of a finger, powered by SkyOS – the world’s first universal operating system for flight.

On November 4, 2024, Skyryse started its Skyryse One with one swipe of a finger, forgoing the traditional 36 startup steps involving two hands and two feet. With a second swipe, Skyryse One was airborne. As the world’s first fully-conforming production aircraft to do so, Skyryse One also accomplished a fully automated hover – and set-down – with the swipe of a finger.

With its proprietary technology, SkyOS, Skyryse is ushering a new era in flight safety. SkyOS consists of a single control stick and two touch screens attached to an aircraft-agnostic, triply-redundant fly-by wire system with associated electro-mechanical actuators – turning Skyryse One into one of the most simplified aircraft in the world. SkyOS greatly decreases the amount of training needed to operate today’s aircraft and will have a dramatic and ongoing impact on the safety of flight by simplifying aviation.

In order to increase the accessibility of flight, SkyOS can be applied to any aircraft – fixed wing, rotorcraft, or VTOL. The system design and construction reduce the chance of failure to one in a billion or 10-9. Skyryse has made it possible for pilots to operate complex fixed and rotary wing aircraft with greatly reduced training and much less time devoted to maintaining proficiency.
